This is for 1–4 participants; for 5-8 participants please book a Group Mushroom Walk; for groups larger than 8 participants, please contact us directly.*

We'll spend the day hiking at a leisurely pace, seeking the vast diversity of beautiful and bizarre mushrooms under the towering redwoods and mixed evergreen forests. I'll teach you methods for identifying them using favorite mushroom field guides and modern citizen-science tools like the iNaturalist app. We'll spend time to learn how to take great photos of wild mushrooms (whether with a smartphone for sharing on Instagram, or using more in-depth DSLR techniques). We'll also keep an eye out for the wildflowers, woodpeckers, deer, bobcats, coyotes, and other creatures that call this area their home. If we are lucky enough to pick wild edible mushrooms on legal territory, we'll sample them over a cookstove at the end of the day with a pinch of salt and pepper.
